General Election Called for 4th July

While we have all known that a General Election would be called this year, most of us were set for an October date. Yesterday’s announcement that the vote will take place on 4th July therefore came as somewhat of a surprise.

The parties respective campaigns will start in earnest, beginning with a scramble to select candidates.

Westminster Business Council will be watching closely for policy promises around tax cuts, business rates and industry specific pledges. With rising costs, a skills gap and red tape increasing at every turn, it has been an incredibly challenging few years for business.

We look forward to engaging positively with policy makers whichever party or parties that may be come 5th July!
